Week of October 5th, 2015-
BMS is proud to announce this week’s honored athlete, Erick Martinez. Erick is an eighth-grader at Benson Middle School. He plays center midfield on the soccer team. “As one of the captains for our team, Erick personifies our school motto of “Excellence Without Excuse”. Erick’s hard work is evident not just on the field, but in the classroom as well. Our Phantom soccer family is lucky to have him,” his coach said.

Erick lives in the Benson area. His supportive mother is, Maria Castillo Sifuentes.

Great job, Erick, keep up the good work!

BMS is proud to announce this week’s honored athlete, Cierra Johnson. Cierra is a seventh-grader at Benson Middle School. She is a member of the BMS cheerleading squad. “Cierra is a great athlete. She is the type of athlete that does work without being asked. She sees a need and does it. Cierra has impressed me with her work ethic and her desire to improve. She will be one of our new captains for the winter cheer season,” her coach said.

Cierra lives in the Benson area. Her supportive parents are, Donnetta Johnson of Benson and Craig Johnson of Wilson.

Great job, Cierra, keep up the good work!

BMS is proud to announce this week’s honored athlete, Giavonne Minns. Giavonne is an eighth-grader at Benson Middle School. He plays the offensive and defensive line for the BMS football team. “Giavonne, ‘G’, as he is affectionately known, is a two-year starter for the Phantom football team. He is not only a leader on the field but also a leader in the school, serving as the SGA president. Giavonne is a valuable asset to the school and community and it is an honor to coach him,” his coach said. 

Giavonne lives in the Benson area. His supportive parents are, Rochelle Minns and Sazon Ford.

Benson Middle School held the first annual Volleyball Tournament on Friday, Oct. 30.  Football, Volleyball, Soccer and Cheerleaders played against each other in the first two rounds.  Parents played against staff in the second round.  Football and Parents won the playoff round, with parents winning the final round.  This was an amazing night and one we plan to repeat in the near future!  Thank you to all who helped make  this event successful!

BMS is proud to announce this week’s honored athlete, Kristen Lee. Kristen is an eighth-grader at Benson Middle School. She is a setter and team captain for the BMS volleyball team. “Kristen is constantly encouraging her teammates and giving them helpful advice. She shows initiative and leadership skills by helping run drills every practice. Kristen is always positive and uplifting to her peers. She is the team captain for the 2015 volleyball season at Benson,” her coach said.

Kristen lives in the Benson area. Her supportive parents are, Barbara Lee and Todd Lee.

India Barnes. India is an eighth-grader at Benson Middle School. She is a member of the Benson Middle SchoolCheerleading Squad. “India is a great athlete. She tries her best at every task that is presented. She is a team player and always demonstrates leadership and teamwork." her coach said.

India lives in the Benson area. Her supportive mother is, Brikita Barnes.
